Excelsior Model School celebrated its golden jubilee on 6th December 2014, with great pride. Diverse programmes and events were organized as the part of jubilation. It was commenced on 14th July as it was the day on which the school was inaugurated before 50 years i.e. July 14th 1964.
On 10th and 11th of October 2014 we organized an exhibition which had a great educational value and was praise worthy.
The culmination of all celebration and jubilation was on 6th December when we held our celebration of jubilee year. Preparations had been started months before. Programmes were planned and set up with the help of well-known choreographers.
The function started with the grand parade which included each and every member of the school. The traditional music bands from Kerala i.e. Panchvadhyam by Trippallur Panchvadhyam group and Chingarimelam by Chennai group mesmerized everyone with its music and created a festive mood in the air. Students from Nursery to std.XII, teaching and non teaching staff, working staff, Principal, Vice-Principal and Management took part in the grand parade.
The chief guests were Mr. Sethu Madhavan (President, Excelsior Education Society) Shri Suresh Shah (President, Gandhdiham Municipality) Shri Vidyut Buch (Former President, G’dham Chamber of Commerce) and Shri Prem Lalwani (Chairman, G’dham co-operative bank).
The guest of honor were Colonel Ajay Dabur(207, medium regiment army G’dham) and Mr. Rajeev Ahluvalia (Deputy Commandant, B.S.F. G’dham) The main attraction of the programme was ‘Mera Bharat Meri Pehchan’ which included 17 dances both classical and folk from various parts of India and western dance from bollywood and hollywood.
Another programme which was appreciated much was Nostalgic – 50, a puppet show, depicting the growth of our school from its very beginning and the undying spirit of our founder, Madam Lily Parr, the fruit of her hard work we enjoy today and celebrate. The unveiling of Golden Jubilee Souvenir was also held during the function. The programme concluded with a get together followed by dinner.
