Yoga Classes

Excelsior Model School aims at the balanced development of children amidst the chaos of modern times. In the literal sense of the word, knowledge in earlier time used to be communicated spontaneously. The guru imparted it with love and the disciple received it with gratitude. It was not merely the transfer of wisdom but a ladder for ascent to reach the Creator. Without this, education would have no meaning.

Physical activity is good for relieving stress and this is particularly true of yoga.
Yoga asana practice is intensely physical. Concentrating so intently what our body is doing has the effect of bringing calmness to the mind.

We introduce our children to meditation techniques such as watching the breath and how to disengage our thoughts. Most of us take shallow breaths and don’t give much thought to how we breathe, Yoga breathing exercises called Pranayama focus the attention on breath and teach us how to take deeper breaths, which benefits the entire body. Certain type of breath can also help to clear the nasal passages and even calm the central nervous system, which has both physical and mental health.

In our school daily we have yoga classes from standard I to XII according to the timetable so all the students can understand the importance of remaining healthy and the importance of yoga in our lives.
