1964-1985
Madam Lily Parr started Excelsior Model School affiliated to the state syllabus in 1964 with just three students starting from Baby Lower class which at present is called Lower K.G. Gradually every year classes were added and the school grew up to std VII th . Madam Parr was the principal and with her dedication team of teachers, together they girded their lions to teach the students to the best of their ability. In 1976, Madam Parr got an opportunity to go to Dubai. She kept her elder daughter Joyce Parr in her place to take care of the school. She too worked hard for the school. She got married in 1978 and followed her husband to Dubai. From November 1979 to May 1985 a lady named Mrs. Usha Ahir shouldered the responsibility of the school. Excelsior Model School shall ever be grateful to Mrs. Usha for running the school well in Madam’s absence.

Madam Parr’s second daughter Sheela finished her studies and took over the charge of the school from Mrs Usha Ahir. All this time the school was running in three nearby double – storied houses. Madam Parr had a residential plot in Ward 3/A. She started sending money from Dubai and a school building consisting of 18 rooms was constructed. From June 1985 all the classes running in these houses came under one roof. Students began increasing and with it the fame of the school also spread. Students from Anjar, Shinay, Antarjar, etc. far – off places also joined the school. In 1990 Excelsior added another feather to its cap by starting the secondary section. It was a great relief for our parents and the students. They used to find it difficult to get admission to eighth standard in other schools. Soon our first batch of tenth standard appeared for board exams. It was a great feeling for the inmates of Excelsior. As students began increasing we began experiencing lack of space, The local authority known as S.R.C. were kind enough to give us in Ward 4/B, a 3.5 acres of land allotted for school purpose Slowly construction of the rooms started. All the classes began having two divisions. In 2003, another feather was added to the school, when we started our Higher Secondary Section. There was a feeling of completeness and wholeness. Now Excelsior is full-fledged institution ready to compete with other leading educational institutions. Our students of tenth and twelfth come out with flying colors in the board exams. We feel happy that though our students are from middle class and lower middle class and not having a family background where parents are not so educated and yet they want to put their children in English medium schools. How time flies! Madam Parr who had started the school in 1964 passed away in 1999. And 2014 – a landmark year of the many, many miles covered – the Golden Jubilee year. Madam must be looking down from Heaven’s door with a glorious satisfaction to see her Excelsior glittering and growing the way that she had visioned it to be when she initially started the school. This in brief is the journey of Excelsior from the year of her inception in 1964 to her glorious Golden Jubilee year in 2014 Let her journey in 2015, as she becomes 51 years old continue for many more glorious years by imparting quality education to the students.
